Idaho, the 45th State to Join the Military Interstate Children’s Compact

The Interstate Compact ensures “standardized” treatment of military children who transferring between school districts and states in education-related areas such as enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility in some sports and graduation.  The Interstate Compact is relevant to Active Duty who may PCS and ANG and AFRC members who may transfer to another state.

Five states have yet to sign onto the Compact—two, Montana and New York, have pending legislation leading to their eventual participation.  The three remaining states (Oregon, Minnesota and New Hampshire) have “no” current bills or legislation before their state legislatures.

AFSA continues to work with state policymakers in each of the five remaining states regarding the need for implementation and the benefits of the Interstate Compact.  AFSA salutes Idaho for joining the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission.
