Legislation Update – 3/18/2015

– Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James A. Cody publishes article in the Jan/Feb edition of AFSA Magazine regarding the future of the promotion system through “Forced Distribution”.

– AFSA continues to contend the MCRMC plan to consolidate the exchange system.  Current budget proposal would reduce commissary subsidy from $1.3 billion to $400 million over the next three years.  If approved, this could trigger a broad range of unintended consequences that would reverberate across the force, through families, and with the base support programs that sustain the military community.

– AFSA continues to lobby our position on Capitol Hill regarding the MCRMC proposal to dismantle the current retirement system

– CEO Rob Frank carried the AFSA banner before the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee responding to the military healthcare recommendations of the MCRMC.  The current proposal would increase out-of-pocket expenses for military retirees from 5% to 20% and many who have faithfully served their nation, would no longer be able to afford the very healthcare system they were promised.
